Dr. Hassan El-Najjar


Dr. Hassan Ali El-Najjar was born in Gaza, Palestine, in 1950. He earned his B.A. in English Education from Ain Shams University in Cairo, later immigrating to the U.S. in 1986. He completed his M.A. in Cultural Anthropology (1988) and Ph.D. in Sociology (1993) at the University of Georgia. From 1991 to 2020, he served as a professor at Dalton State College in Georgia.

Dr. El-Najjar’s family roots trace back to 17th-century Palestine, where his ancestor Abdul Hadi, known as El-Najjar (“the Carpenter”), established the family name. His maternal grandfather, Sheikh Abdul Haleem Al-Hamami Al-Arqoobi, studied at Al-Azhar University and later became an imam at the Grand Mosque of Isdood (Ashdod).

He is the author of several works on Islam and Middle Eastern affairs, including:
